September 2020 Monthly Grocery Haul

September 22, 2020 by Stephanie 4 Comments

Since August was a crazy month with getting homeschooling up and going, I didn’t post our monthly grocery haul, but I’m back in September!  In fact, I’m taking you shopping with me!

Our family of 8 usually spends around $500 per month on groceries, well until 2020 hit.  Then we took a couple of months off from grocery shopping during our Quarantine Food Storage Challenge where we were eating strictly from our pantry and food storage.  And then we had a HUGE grocery haul to restock our pantry.

September’s grocery haul looked closer to normal.  We spent $460 in total, which is on the expensive side of normal for us, but as you’ll see I got some 25 lb bags of bulk foods both at Sam’s and at Winco.

If you don’t have a food storage plan for your family, go check out my getting started with food storage post.

In this month’s grocery haul video I’m taking you shopping with me!  Or if you just want to see the prices and what I got, keep reading below.

 Winco Grocery Haul– $210

  • Potatoes (10 lb) $2.98 x 2 = $5.96
  • Green grapes $.98/lb x 2.05 lb = $2.01

How are grocery prices where you live?  Are cheese prices through the roof for you too?

Thanks for sharing your grocery trips! I learned through you that WinCo has bulk cream of wheat. I usually buy a #10 can at Walmart, but they’ve been out of stock since the pandemic started. I usually eat oatmeal for breakfast, but my husband and kids prefer cream of wheat.

I don’t know what cheese prices are there for 8 oz. bags, but our Harris Teeter had them for $1.47 with a limit of 9. We don’t each much cheese, but I got a huge variety and the dates are all February and March, skill it’ll all get used.

Wow – an amazing insight to your monthly grocery shopping. Definitely a lot of organisation going into that shopping list! Thank you for listing the prices too!

Do you ever have a problem with food waste? Do you ever buy too much?

I am in Minneapolis and I havent really noticed a change in grocery prices but I haven’t really changed my buying process since the start of the pandemic but that’s probably because the foods I eat aren’t generally what most would consider their staples.
What would you say has been the hardest food/non-food item to obtain during these crazy times??
